Define Leadership
It is a skill of relationship management that mutually benefits both the leader and the follower.
Leadership requires the participations and involvements of both leaders and supporters. It is the process that leaders and subordinates exchange their viewpoints when they face different tasks and mutually affect each other. Being a good leader, it is necessary to have an open mind with others’ suggestions, while keeping in mind the importance of leader’s own viewpoint. Some good qualities that I believe leaders should have are: being patient, being open minded and being authoritative.
Empowering the team
As a leader, I want to lead my team to fulfill our goal while maintaining good relationships in the team. My personal life goal is to work in a career I enjoy while helping others. My interested career is Human Resource Management. I am interested in helping company to develop a better training system and assisting employees to have better working environments.
With such goal, I gradually find out some of my values that I consider important and essential in terms of team building development: determination, persistence, integrity and friendship. With the determination of facing challenges bravely, me, as the leader will lead the team steadfastly without being afraid of the difficulties. Moreover, it is important for me to be persistent, leading the team and persevering on the challenges. I believe that success won’t come easily unless I learn lessons from the past experiences. By learning from the past and be persistent on reaching the goals, I will become the role model of my team. In addition, integrity tests my moral value. It is the code of moral principles and the value that guides my behavior. Last but not the least, friendship is crucial for me. Friends are always the ones who I ask helps from and share my story with.
Motivation on participating the Leadership Certificate Program
Finding my personal strengths and the ways to develop them is mainly the reason I am participating in the Leadership Certificate Program. The Leadership Certificate Program is an “investment” for myself, enabling me to discover the strengths I have but didn’t realize before. Besides, by setting different specific, challenging but approachable goals, I have the opportunity to reach my goal step by step. The difficult goals I scare before turns to be many small and manageable tasks. With the help of my coach April Carter, I receive supports and encouragements, which enables me to have enough confidence to finish my program and continues improving myself.
